Find Out Now if Your Child has Early Signs of Autism or Dyslexia
Freequently Asked Questions about Autism and Dyslexia

1. Will your computer games tell me if my child or student has autism or dyslexia?

No, our Diagnostic Gaming system will simply determine if your child or student shows early signs of autism or dyslexia. This is by no means a definitive diagnosis and should not be treated as such. Only a trained health care professional can diagnose either disorder. Learning for Children's Diagnostic Gaming series is designed only to give you the information that you need to help you decide if further testing is warranted. It is a tool, not an answer.

2. What should I do if your computer games indicate my child shows signs of autism or dyslexia?

Contact your pediatrician immediately and ask him or her for a reference to a specialist in the specific disorder identified by the games.

3. Who can I speak with at Learning for Children about my child's results from playing the games?

We are not staffed to help you with anything other than technical questions regarding the use of the games. Though we are knowledgeable about autism and dyslexia, we are not health care professionals. If you have questions about the results from testing, contact your pediatrician and ask him or her to refer you to a specialist in either disorder.

4. Is there any risk that your games may fail to identify signs of autism or dyslexia in my child or student?

Yes. Our games are solely intended to detect early signs of the possible presence of the afflictions. They are by no means a definitive diagnosis! Only a professional can truly identify the existence of the disorder.

5. If your games say my child or student shows early signs of autism or dyslexia, but my doctor says they don't have either, whom should I believe?

Always trust your doctor or professional evaluator! Learning for Children's games are designed to unearth the possible presence of autism and dyslexia. They are tools to help you decide if a child needs further evaluation, but their findings are not conclusive. By no means should their findings be treated as a definitive diagnosis.

6. My child or student doesn't seem dyslexic or autistic, should I still test them using your games?

That is entirely up to you. But we believe that more information is far better than less. And it is an affordable, painless and fun process!

7. Why is it so important to test my child or students for dyslexia and autism?

It's all about early detection.

Here's what the experts say: "Early detection and intervention is the best chance your child will ever have to successfully cope with these afflictions. The earlier you detect them and get your child help, the better chance they will have of leading a normal life."(Dr. Candace Anderson, PhD Early Child Development)

8. Why did you decide to develop computer games to test for autism and dyslexia?

Quite simply, there is a great need. And we have the desire and expertise to help. These particular afflictions require early detection and thus lend themselves to our diagnostic gaming techniques. Unfortunately, millions of children who have these problems enter our school systems before their conditions are detected. Consequently, they struggle through school and life and, all too often, only get the help they need too late or never. As a result, they are unable to reach their full potential and live lives fraught with unnecessary disappointments. We are passionate in our belief that these children can be helped and contribute 10% of all sales to non-profit dyslexia and autism advocacy organizations.

Game Play & Technical Questions

1. Will my children or students know they are being tested?

Absolutely not! They only know that they are playing a fun and entertaining game. The testing runs in the background as the children play. The beauty is that it is completely hidden from the child, as is the report with their results.

2. Are the games actually fun for children to play?

Yes, the games are really fun to play! Kids love them! However, they are not over-stimulating, because a child needs to concentrate on completing the games to ensure a proper evaluation.

3. How long does it usually take to play the games?

It can take as much or as little time as you choose. The child can always go back to the games any time, and the evaluation picks up right where the child left off in the last session. There are 15 games in total. Each game takes a few minutes to play, depending on a child's ability.

4. How do the games work?

The games work by testing a child's ability to execute tasks that measure certain criteria. Our system evaluates specific skills necessary to complete each task, and tells our evaluation process analyzer if the child's performance reveals any symptoms of autism or dyslexia.

5. How quickly will I get the report on my child or student's performance?

The reports are immediate and are available by going to the "Parents" section of the game menu. This area is password-protected by the parent.

6. Will the children playing see the report on their performance?

The "Parents" area is password-protected. Unless you give your child the password, they will not be able to see their test results.

7. On which computer systems do your games work?

The games work on any PC with any version of Microsoft Windows, and on any Mac that runs Windows software.

8. What kind of computer skills do I need to set up and start the games?

None! No computer skills are required. Our products are extremely user-friendly. Just follow the simple load instructions and the rest of the program is self-explanatory and easy. You'll be guided every step of the way!

9. Do you have a support phone number or email if I have technical issues?

Yes. Our support staff is available 24/7 by calling 1-888-717-6717.

10. Does Learning for Children plan to offer computer-based games to test for any other behavioral disorders in the future?

Yes, we are working on several other learning and skills Diagnostic Games to help parents and educators identify children with other disabilities. Our motto is "Early Detection for Early Intervention." Check our web site frequently for updates and other news!
